There’s a Beauty in Winter

Our Daily Walk:

From the bedroom, Vito gives a single, just-loud-enough bark—our cue that it’s time for our walk. Every morning, it’s a quiet ritual. With winter having laid the trees bare, hidden nests emerged, showing a quiet beauty. We paused at the driveway; Vito sat while I took three deep breaths. At the park’s end, I listened—birds, more vibrant than at the start. On the pond, some migratory ducks are paying us a brief visit during their migration, and George and Gracie, our herons, prepared for spring. At that final stop, I stood in the moment, grateful. Our first victory each day: our walk.

Inks Lake Camping 2015

Family Camping Trip at Inks Lake

Our family truly embraced the spirit of camping during our unforgettable adventure at Inks Lake. What began as a simple trip in 2010 blossomed into an exciting 2015 journey that brought together three families6 Kids, and a few extra friends, creating a vibrant community under the stars. We set up three spacious family tents, each one a cozy haven, alongside a charming dining tent that became the heart of our gatherings. Equipped with all the essential gear for an unforgettable experience, we were ready to make lasting memories in the beautiful landscapes of Inks Lake, Texas. The sounds of laughter filled the air as we shared stories around the crackling campfire, roasting marshmallows and enjoying the warmth of friendship beneath a breathtaking starlit sky. Each morning welcomed us with the soothing sounds of nature, beckoning us to explore the stunning trails and the shimmering waters that surrounded us. Our children forged lifelong friendships as they discovered the thrill of fishing and the joy of kayaking, creating unforgettable moments that would be cherished for years to come. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we gathered together to reflect on our adventures, filled with gratitude for the precious time spent in the great outdoors, surrounded by loved ones and the beauty of nature.

Thursday Morning

A Thursday Tradition: Walk and Talk with Kaila

For years now, my daughter Kaila and I have shared a special Thursday morning ritual: a walk and talk in one of Round Rock’s beautiful parks. No matter the season, we meet up and tackle a one-mile track, catching up on life’s adventures along the way.

This video captures just one of our walks from last fall. We hope you enjoy a glimpse into our tradition.
